Houses for sale in London 'gain in popularity'

The number of people buying houses for sale in London has risen, a
recent report has revealed.
According to the LSL Property Services/Acadametrics House Price
Index, while other areas of the UK experienced a static number of
property transactions in August 2010, London has bucked the
trend.
The findings showed that last month sales for London properties
increased by 22 per cent.
It also found that house values rose by 0.2 per cent - a result
that is likely to come as good news to people looking to sell their
properties.
However, taking into account all areas of Britain, year-on-year
price growth was reported to have slowed to 7.7 per cent.
The recent Rightmove House Price Index revealed that the average
cost of a property in the UK dropped from July to August.
While the average value of a house for sale was £236,332 in
July, the following month it came in at £232,241.
